Dan Kidle overcame fierce winds on the Lake Michigan shore to take
home his second Monkeyball tournament victory of the 2006 season. The
strong southerly wind posed a challenge for all players, as throwing
in each direction required significantly different techniques.
Dan got off to a quick start, cruising 15-0, 15-0 in his first two
matches. Rookie Matt Young, after prevailing 16-14 over Alex Seyferth
in one of the closest matches in Monkeyball history, fell to Dan 15-3
in the winner's bracket final. Unshaken, Young won the loser's bracket
final and then beat Dan 15-13 in the first game of the Championship.
Dan regained his form in game 2, winning 15-3, thus sealing tournament
victory.
