There were so many great story lines -- a loaded field with 7 top 25 players, Dean Allen defending his 2006 World Championship, a sure shuffle of the top 10 rankings, a return to the hallowed Strathmore and Rockford Monkeyball facility (host of the 05 Worlds) -- but the match that captivated the audience on a beautiful April Sunday was the battle between two rookies for SEVENTH PLACE!

That's right, as seven tournament veterans watched two newbies fight for 7th place we all learned of a very important side bet which gave the match its intensity. A win by Allison Fox meant her man had to join her for sushi (which he hates).   A win by Matt Whitfield and Alli would join him for her first excursion to Hooters.   This is what Monkeyball is all about -- not tournament championships and world rankings -- but serving as a vehicle to get chicks to join the dudes for beer, wings and breasts (chicken breasts, of course).   Congratulations to Matt on his 15-4 win. And remember Matt, look your waitress in the eyes while ordering.

On a side note, Dean Allen once again rolled through a very impressive field (although Andi Osters did give him a legit game two loss in the best-of-3 finals). Can anymore stop him?  I'm sure he'll be walking around with a huge target on his back at the 2007 World Championships.
