August 23 and September 1, 2008
The 2008 Meadow Woods Championships started off as a beautiful day
at
the Giller's house. The main draw of the gathering was supposed to
be
the Giller's new patio recently added by Chuck. However, anytime
Monkey Ball is being played it quickly becomes the main attraction!
The first few rounds showed no surprises as highly ranked players
moved on with ease. The most interesting match was a 15-6 win Tony
Olds had over Chuck Giller. However, only a few rounds could be
played because a monsoon hit very quickly and caused all festivities
to progress into the Giller's house... with the exception of the MB
ladders. The rest of the tournament was played at Pennine Ridge Field
on Labor Day. This is where Dave Sylvia started lighting up the
ladders. He beat Tony Olds in the winner's bracket semis, 15-6, then
lost to Todd Byers 15-8 in the winner's bracket finals. After winning
the loser's bracket, Dave beat Todd in the Finals, 15-13, 15-13, for
his first MB tournament win.
