2ND ANNUAL BATTLE AT BULL RUN
Birmingham, Ala.
July 4, 2009
It was another hot 4th of July in Alabama. We doubled our participants from last year's tourney, so this sport is blowin' up down south! We saw lots of intense family battles and the rookies put on a show. Caleb Long gave Sean Dameron a big scare as he put up 3-point bombs like they were going out of style, eventually losing 15-10. Melanie Singleton gave us a fashion show with her dryer sheet bug repellant! Bracket A was stacked and Jason Salmon went through unscathed and unbeaten, taking out Kevin Singleton twice. Kevin would get his revenge, though. Chris Cochran lost his first game, but stormed through the loser's bracket, eventually losing 15-12 in the Bracket B finals to Sean Dameron.
Long-time competitors, Kevin Singleton and Sean Dameron, met in the semis, with Kevin winning 15-4. #2 world-ranked Jason Salmon and Chris Cochran met in the other semi match, with Jason (showing why he is # 2) winning 15-0. After 4 1/2 hours of play (and several complaints from frustrated, tired spouses), Kevin "Hot Wheels" Singleton took out Jason "Buffalo Bills" Salmon 15-8 for his 2nd consecutive championship.
