WINDYRUSH I: BREAK IT IN

Commissioner Frushour and family have been in their new DeWitt digs for a month, so it seemed about time for the inaugural back yard event. “Windyrush I: Break It In” was the first of what I’m sure will be many Monkeyball events at the Frushour house, and the Commish was able to use the home court advantage to win his eleventh career tournament.
A small but experienced group of ballers participated in Windyrush I, but it was a rookie who made a run to the championship match. Brett Boden showcased promising leisure sport acumen in knocking off vets Maggie Olds and Joe Frushour in the winners bracket, and MB4 participant Joe Wenzel in the losers bracket championship. Wenzel, who was just happy to surpass his wife in the World Rankings with his 3rd place finish, knocked out older brother Jim before succumbing to young Boden.
At the end of the day, it was a great start to what I’m sure will be a storied history at Frushour Field in DeWitt. Windyrush II will certainly hit the calendar before the end of 2009.
