Can anyone host a tournament and post results on PlayMonkeyball.com?

Only officially sanctioned Monkeyball tournaments are posted on playmonkeyball.com, and only sanctioned tournaments can qualify players for the World Rankings. Your tournament will be sanctioned if:
  • You play by official Monkeyball playing rules: simple | expanded
  • You have at least 8 participants.
  • Your tournament format (see below) is approved by Andy Frushour. Double-elimination brackets (see beow) for 8-to-32 players are provided.
  • Your results are submitted upon completion of play. If you have between 8 and 16 participants in a double-elimination tournament, you can use this Excel file to fill in your results.
Your event can be sanctioned after the completion of the tournament. To request sanctioning, contact the Monkeyball commissioner at afrushour@gmail.com.

What is an acceptable tournament format?

As a rule of thumb, any double-elimination format or any tournament with a pool play qualifier prior to bracket play will be approved. And remember, you need at least 8 particpants to be sanctioned.

To help manage your local event, the following double elimination brackets can be used for your tournament:

8 players | 9 players | 10 players | 11 players | 12 players
13 players | 14 players | 15 players | 16 players
17 players | 18 players | 19 players | 20 players
21 players | 22 players | 23 players | 24 players
25 players | 26 players | 27 players | 28 players
29 players | 30 players | 31 players | 32 players

If you have between 8 and 16 participants in a double-elimination tournament, you can use this Excel file to fill in your results.

Your event can be sanctioned after the completion of the tournament. To request sanctioning, contact the Monkeyball commissioner at afrushour@gmail.com.
